AIRBOURNE Discusses Recording WWE Theme; Opening For THE ROLLING STONES
October 1, 2008Metal Injection has posted a new video interview with Joel O'Keeffe (vocals/lead guitar) and Ryan O'Keeffe (drums) of the Australian hard rock band AIRBOURNE conducted at this summer's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival. They discussed recording the theme song for Ken Kennedy of the WWE, BBQing at Rockstar Mayhem, Australian beer, opening for THE ROLLING STONES, their love for AC/DC and much more. Watch the 11-minute clip below.
AIRBOURNE recently cancelled its participation in the "Volcom 2008" tour featuring MOTÖRHEAD, VALIENT THORR and YEAR LONG DISASTER because the group's singer/guitarist Joel O'Keefe is suffering from strained vocal cords. "All that is needed is a couple of weeks rest and then the band will be back on the road in Japan this October, and then taking on a Europe tour for the third time in ten months," the group said in a statement.
AIRBOURNE's new video for the song "Runnin' Wild" — featuring a special cameo by MOTÖRHEAD mainman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister — was shot with director Nathan Cox, who has previously worked with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON and LINKIN PARK, among others. The track is the title cut of the group's new album, which landed at No. 106 on The Billboard 200 chart in the U.S. after shifting 7,000 units in its first week of release.
